Park Condor

Morona-Santiago, Ecuador

Description:

Not far from the Ecuadorian city of Otavalo is the world famous Condor National Park. This reserve was organized to save the endangered species of birds – the condor, which is also a symbol of Ecuador.

For more than a decade, July 7 has been declared National Condor Day in Ecuador. The condor is the largest bird in the Western Hemisphere, and the wingspan of some individuals can reach three meters.

The reserve staff care for and raise the nestlings of vultures and condors, and then return them to their usual habitat. I would like to note that the population of these birds is so small that it does not reach a hundred. At the same time, the female condor lays only one egg in two years, which is why the restoration of this species of birds is a long, difficult and painstaking work.

The park can show birds in flight, as well as talk about their care and population recovery processes. Who ever happened to see this bird, then for a long time is under a huge impression, so it is majestic, beautiful and also huge.
