The small town of Otavalo is located about 90 km north of the capital of Ecuador Quito. The city at the foot of the volcano Imbabura in a picturesque valley. Perhaps it would have gone unnoticed had it not been for its famous Indian market in Ponchos Square.

Surprisingly, the market is not limited only to Plaza de Ponchos, the road to this city is a large Indian trade route. By itself, the market in the city does not take up much space, but it amazes with its bright colors and entertainment.

The lively trade is on Saturday. But on Sunday you can buy something worthwhile, although there are much fewer merchants. On the eve of Saturday, you can observe a picturesque picture when crowds of Indians from nearby settlements flock to the city. Looking at them, it seems that in just a minute the city will be washed away by a noisy flow of people.

The market in Poncho Square has existed since pre-Inca times and is a local tradition. Locals dress in colorful Indian clothes. With their bright national costumes, the Indians literally fascinate visiting tourists.

On the square, guests of the city will be able to purchase products of local artisans, reed mats, fruits, vegetables, blankets, ponchos made of llama wool and many other most unusual and exotic things.

What market can do without trading? And this is no exception, you can and should bargain, sometimes you can get a significant discount.
