Ruminawi volcano

Rumiñ ahui, Latacunga, Cotopaxi, Ecuador

Description:

Ruminaui is a volcano located in Ecuador, in the picturesque Cotopaxi National Reserve. More precisely, Ruminaui is located in the Andean mountains, 40 kilometers from Quito (the capital of Ecuador), “in the shadow” of its famous neighbor – the volcano Cotopaxi.

Today, Ruminaui is an extinct and inactive volcano, at a height of 4,721 meters (1,489 feet) above sea level, and was named after the Inca chieftain who ruled during the Spanish invasion.

In good weather, the top of this volcano offers a wonderful view of the surrounding area and other attractions of the Cotopaxi National Reserve. During the climb you can also enjoy stunning views and scenery.

This rocky volcano is one of the habitat areas of the Andean condors - the largest predatory flying bird in the western hemisphere of the Earth.
