Sheikh Hanafi mosque
Description:
Sheikh Hanafi Mosque is the oldest mosque in Eritrea. The mosque was built in the 15th century, and to this day it looks perfect. Unlike other pre-existing attractions of the city of Massawa.
For example, many Orthodox churches were destroyed, historical monuments were destroyed, now the former Imperial Palace resembles more ruins, and only the foundation remained from the monument to Emperor Haile Selassia. At the same time, the snow-white walls of the mosque are intact even during the multiple bombings of the 90s of the last century.
