Shida Sandal Monument

Eritrea, Asmara, Beirut Street

Description:

The Shida sandal monument is set in the middle of a street in the city of Asmara. Eritrea reveres these two giant-sized sandals. It is quite easy to find this monument - in front of the famous Zilli bar, which is loved by Russian and Ukrainian contract pilots.

Sandals were worn by members of partisan detachments. They fought for independence in the nineties of the last century. They were made by hand from car tires that were in use. Today, these shoes are quite common among the local population. Easy and comfortable, it is made in a shoe factory.

In the eastern city with a half-million population, you can find many interesting places, drink a cup of coffee, watch passers-by from the café veranda. The city is friendly to tourists.
