Museum A Bandera D'Ajaccio
1 Rue G n ral Levie, 20,000 Ajaccio, France
About the company:
The Historical Museum of Corsica is quite easy to recognize from the outside due to the multicolored frescoes on the facade that show the 3 most famous inhabitants of the island: Sampiero, Paoli and Bonaparte. Starting with detailed explanatory boards, various documents, weapons, uniforms, costumes, figures and dioramas, the museum explores the turbulent history of Corsica and its inhabitants.
There are 5 rooms, each of which tells about a certain historical period. The first room is dedicated to the prehistoric era, antiquity and the Middle Ages. The second room tells about the relationship of Corsica with the sea, Saracens, pirates, as well as Genoese domination. About the XVIII century is spoken in the third room. The fourth is devoted entirely to the history of the First and Second Empires. The last room is the modern period, in particular the experience of Corsica in the last two world wars.
