The Vineyard Fountain

Place Francois Rude, Dijon, France

Description:

On the popular square of the city of Dijon - Place Francois Rude - there is a fountain with a bronze figure of a boy-winemaker, a symbol of Burgundy and wine produced here.

The fountain is located in the center of the square, which the locals call Barese because of the statue of the winegrower - after a long pressing of grapes, the socks of the workers were painted pink.

Elegantly made of bronze, the statue is a boy who holds a grapevine in one hand and crushes grape berries with his feet. The jets of the fountain, beating from a container under the boy, depict jets of wine.

The statue is a special symbol of the city, as always the main part of the able-bodied population is engaged in the production of wine, and for tourists a number of excursions to the famous Burgundy vineyards and tastings of Burgundy wines are constantly organized.
