Vogue Mansion (Burgundy)

8, Rue De La Chouette, 21000 - Dijon

Description:

The original owner of the mansion was Councillor of the Parliament of Burgundy Etienne Bouillet. They say that he, fascinated by architecture, created the project of his future home. Although, looking at the very harmonious proportions of the building and its exquisite design, it is difficult to imagine that this is the work of an amateur. The mansion is made in typical medieval France construction technique, when the walls are formed by wooden frames filled with brick. This type of building is called a hotel in France. Therefore, this mansion is often called the Hotel Vogue.

The two wings of the building are connected by a covered gallery, in the center of which is the entrance to the courtyard. From the courtyard, the roof of the gallery rests on a stone portico with three arches, richly decorated in the Italian Renaissance style. The walls of the mansion facing the courtyard are distinguished by the same interesting decor. But the main decoration of the mansion is its roof. It is made of flat glazed shingles of four colors, the combination of which forms a clear ornament. There is a feeling that the house is covered with a bright, sparkling carpet in the sun.

Now the mansion Vogue belongs to the city municipality. The department of culture and architecture of the city is located here, so it is open only on the days of exhibitions and social events.
