Description:
Our Lady Cathedral in Dijon is a masterpiece of 18th-century Gothic architecture and is located in the heart of the city.
The height of the three-storey cathedral is more than 28 meters, the width is 19 meters. Three large arches serve as the entrance to the cathedral, and two rows of columns are built above the arches.
Fifty-one gargoyles adorn the western facade of the cathedral, but they do not carry any functional load and are only decorative decoration of the building. A beautiful large clock is located on the south tower of the western facade, here every quarter of an hour you can hear the sound of a bell measuring time.
It is assumed that the construction of the cathedral was carried out around the period from 1220 to 1240.
In the cathedral is a statue of Our Lady of Good Hope, known in former times as the Black Madonna.
