Aix-en-Provence

Market in Aix-en-Provence

13100 Aix-en-Provence, France

Description:

In the city of Aix-en-Provence markets are three times a week – on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, but the largest market is arranged, of course, on a weekend.

In the markets you can always find lavender oil, various varieties of olives, tapenades (pastes made from olives, anchovies and capers), pastis, Marseille soap, Provençal sweets and other products and things that are made in this city. Local cheeses, mostly goat cheeses, can be bought on the market, the most famous of which is Banon cheese, wrapped in chestnut leaves.

Provence Market is not only a place where you can buy food, things and household items, but also a place of communication, discussion of news and gossip. It is always crowded, fun, noisy and fragrant.

The city is also a Provençal center of antiques: rare antiques are sold here, which are “chased” by connoisseurs of rarities and collectors from around the world.
