Church of Our Lady Road
2 Rue Notre-Dame, 6400 Cannes, France
Description:
The Church of Our Lady of the Road, built in the 16th century, is located opposite the Palace of Festivals, located on the Croisette embankment.
The church was opened to protect the inhabitants of Cannes from the bubonic plague and, because of its proximity to the sand dunes of the coastal strip, was called Notre-Dame De Sables. Later, in the 19th century, it was called the Church of Our Lady of Port, then destroyed and rebuilt on November 2, 1879 as the Church of Our Lady of the Road.
