Saint Nizier Church
Description:
The church of Saint-Nizier (glise Saint-Nizier) is named after the bishop of Lyons of the sixth century. The site on which the cathedral is now located has a long church history and is associated with the 48 martyrs of Lyon and Gaul, victims of torture in 177, among whom were St. Potinus and St. Blandina. According to contemporaries, their bodies were burned and thrown into the Rhône.
