Camargue

Description:

The magnificent nature reserve covers an area of 857 k. It includes lagoons and beaches, sand dunes and salt marshes, swamps and forests. This is the only place in Europe where pink flamingos nest. There are black Kamarga bulls and white "mustangs" - wild Kamarga horses. In the reserve, salt is mined, rice, olives are grown, winemaking and farming are engaged. You can explore the reserve on foot, by car and even by boat by sea. For lovers of horseback riding there are various routes.

The capital of Camarga is the small town of San Marie de la Mer. For centuries it was one of the centers of pilgrimage. Legend has it that after the death of Jesus, many followers of Christ, among whom were Saint Lazarus, Mary Salome, Martha, Mary Magdalene, were put into a boat without sail and oars and sent to the open sea to the will of waves and wind. Thanks to a miracle, the boat landed on a deserted beach, where this town is now located. And having chosen different directions, they went to preach Christianity in the territory of the future France.

Beautiful nature, snow-white beaches and magnificent wines make Camargue a popular tourist destination.

P.S. For guests from cruise ships, the beginning and end of the excursion by the ship.
