Saint Honore Island
Description:
Saint Honore Island is an ancient island of an ancient monastic order located in the Mediterranean Sea near the city of Cannes. Today it differs significantly from the civilization in Cannes and recalls the past centuries. On its territory there is an ancient abbey, which turned 1600 years old.
Walking along the small island of St. Honore, you can watch the monks who focus on caring for eucalyptus groves, carefully growing various vegetables and fruits, and also make an exquisite and unique liqueur called “Lerina”. Anyone can taste the perfect drink in the courtyard of the monastery, but the recipe monks keep as the apple of the eye, and no one knows its contents.
The size of the island is small, and you can get around it in about an hour, but time will quietly go faster when, walking along the shore overlooking Cannes, you will see the chapels bordering the island. Also, every tourist can be interested in the massive walls of the fortress in the south of St. Honore, which is already 10 centuries old.
