Marcel Fashion Museum
11 La Canebiere, 13001 Marseille, France
About the company:
The Fashion Museum in Marseille was founded in the 80s of the last century, and the exhibits are counted from the same time. The museum is located in the Mediterranean Fashion Centre, located in the old Haussmann building and renovated by architect Jean-Michel Wilmott in 1991.
The museum presents fashion trends over the past 30 years and about 2,000 different accessories. The exposition of the museum is exhibited on two floors, with a total area of more than 600 square meters. Several halls of this museum are devoted to the history and development of fashion trends in clothing since the 1970s. There are more than 4,000 costumes and fashion accessories, dating back to 1945, in two main directions - modern fashion and Mediterranean fashion.
On the exhibited mannequins, you can see both everyday clothes from leading French couturiers, and exquisite outfits, male and female. A separate hall of the museum is dedicated to accessories. The total number of jewelry exceeds 30,000 units, which makes this exhibition the largest in the world dedicated to fashion accessories.
Historians, researchers, students and fashion specialists will find a lot of interesting information in the museum center. Museum staff are always ready to support conversations on “fashionable” topics with children and everyone during special events. Changing each other, the museum constantly hosts thematic exhibitions.
