Nancy

Botanical Garden at Medical College

Rue Sainte-Catherine, 54000 Nancy, France

Description:

To the east of Stanislav Square is the first Nancy Botanical Garden. It was founded in 1758 by Duke Stanislaw as a garden with medicinal plants at the medical college. In 1993, the entire collection was moved to another, more spacious Monte Garden on the outskirts of the city. Only ornamental plants remained in the garden, which for several years were supplemented by various floral samples. The botanical garden in Nancy was named in honor of Dominic Alexander Godron, who was a famous physician and botanist, attacks the same part-time director of the garden in the second half of the 19th century.

At the entrance to the garden there are several square stalls, then in the depth are figuratively trimmed lawns. Between them planted various flowering perennials and several dozen fruit trees. In the garden there is a monument to the explorer Jules Creveaux, who conducted research in South America and brought several samples for French gardens.

Entrance to the garden is free, but in the summer time is limited to eight in the evening.
