Mysterious Italian Villages and Glamorous San Remo
Description:
Our tour of the amazing beauty of the Italian coast will begin with the medieval town of Dolceaqua. We will cross the famous “humpback” bridge over the Nervia River, which the famous French artist Claude Monet loved to depict in his paintings. I will share with you some facts from his life and tell you about his love for this small Ilalian town, which he discovered during his so-called “Italian Journey”. Walking through the narrow streets and looking at the shops and galleries of local artists along the way, we will reach the majestic castle built by the Doria family.
Then we will go to the wonderful village of Apricale, which is officially recognized as one of the ten most beautiful villages in Italy. It is very close and resembles a fairy-tale town from Walt Disney cartoons. Here we will admire the charming murals, visit the temple and dine in a small village restaurant, where we can taste the signature Ligurian dish - a rabbit with olive sauce performed by a local chef and much more! Throughout our journey you will be able to admire the charming countryside scenery, where olive fields are interspersed with orchards.
Then we will continue our journey towards San Remo along a picturesque road stretching along the sea coast. This city, known to all Russians, thanks to the festivals of Italian song, is fraught with many surprises! In the very center of the city, we will meet a surprisingly beautiful Russian church, which was built in the early 20th century by order of the emperor himself and by the project of the famous Russian architect Shchusev. It turns out that San Remo was one of the cities of the Riviera chosen by the royal family and the Russian nobility for a winter holiday. I will introduce you to the history of Russian immigration and other foreign colonies.
And, of course, we will walk along the famous shopping street Matteoti and try the famous Italian ice cream!
