The English Promenade of Nice
331 Promenade des Anglais, 06200 Nice, France
Description:
The English promenade, located on the shores of the Ligurian Sea in the French city of Nice, 200 years ago was chosen by the English monarchs who were improving their health here. Since then, the embankment has been called “royal”.
The waterfront occupied the entire coast of Nice. Here, on the Cote d'Azur, there are boutiques and restaurants, world-famous umbrellas and blue benches, chic coastal villas. It was on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice in 1927 that Isadora Duncan, Sergei Yesenin’s beloved, died. Her long scarf wrapped around the axis of the car she was driving and strangled her.
