Port Limpia
Description:
The port of Limpia, located in the French city of Nice, on the Cote d'Azur, was built in the middle of the XVIII century by the project of engineers François Michaud, Antoine-Felix de Vincenti and Filippo Nicolas de Robilant. During the reign of Karl Felix it was enlarged, and since 1880 the port has its present size and shape.
The name of the port in French means “clean source”. To the port there was indeed a spring, which is now turned into a fountain, which is surrounded by a magnificent two-span staircase and retaining wall of the Île de Bote square. In the center of the Île-de-Bote square you can see the majestic Church of Notre-Dame-du-Por, erected in 1853. From the port with an expanded outer harbor, pleasure and cruise ships depart.
