Matisse Museum

164 Avenue des Arenes de Cimiez, Nice, France

About the company:

The Matisse Museum is dedicated to the artistic heritage of the great artist. The museum occupies an old villa on one of the hills of Nice. The villa was built in the seventeenth century on the site of ancient ancient ruins.

The Matisse Museum includes eighteen halls, where, in addition to the artist’s works, his favorite things are collected. The paintings are arranged without taking into account the chronology. The main idea of the creators of the museum is to give visitors the opportunity to think about the true ideas of Matisse, to speculate on the meaning of the paintings and what the author wanted to express.

One of the expositions of the museum is entirely devoted to Matisse’s passion to create “painting” by cutting figurines from sheets of paper.
