Museum of Old Nimes

Place aux Herbes, 30,000 Nî mes, France

About the company:

The Old Nimes Museum was established in 1920 on the initiative of Henri Boquier. The collection is located in an ancient building, built at the end of the XII century, which once belonged to the bishopric. The exposition presents a collection of works of artistic crafts of Languedoc - a historical region and one of the oldest wine-growing areas of France. The exhibition halls present antique furniture, shawls and traditional clothes, ceramic dishes and various everyday objects of local residents. At the museum there is a souvenir shop where you can buy magnificent shawls made according to ancient samples. A few years ago, the museum underwent a minor renovation, and on May 26, 2009, it reopened its doors to visitors.
