Following Joan of Arc
Description:
The slogan was simple: “For the freedom of France dear, who loves me – for me!”
Joan of Arc, all of you have heard this name at least once in your life, a lot of books have been written about it, a lot of legends and myths have been written in all languages of the world. It is presented in different countries and cities in different films of different eras.
But still...
What was Jeanne like in life? Who was this young girl who played a big role during the Hundred Years’ War between the British and the French in the XIV and XV centuries? Why she became a national heroine of France and a symbol of the unity of the French nation for many generations to come. Where did she go and why is she so loved in Orléans? Who were Joan's combat associates, how could Bluebeard be with her in battle?
All this I will tell you during this very unusual and interesting tour – “Following Joan of Arc”.
Of course, we will not travel all the way from Lorraine, where she was born, but I will take you to the farthest castle on the Loire, showing you the main part of her journey from Lorraine to the king of France.
We will pass through the valley of the Loire River and stop in those places that are associated with the name of Jeanne - in the "joanic cities". What are these cities? These are primarily those cities like Orléans, which have been commemorating Joan of Arc every year since 1429.
I will show you beautiful fortresses, mysterious underground caves and you will taste the beautiful and delicate wines of the Loire Valley.
I invite you with me to the chivalrous Middle Ages of France and its heroes.
We will not mourn the sad end of Joan's campaigns, the sadness will remain in Normandy.
To cheer up, we can even fly a balloon over this beautiful valley and its castles.
Here, in the valley of the Loire castles, I will tell you about the period of her glory and reverence, not only by the people, but also by the courtiers of the king.
The tour includes the following cities and castles: Sully-on-Loire, Orléans, Bojancie, Blois, Villandry, Loche, Chinon.
