Bohemian Montmartre
Description:
Until the beginning of the twentieth century, Montmartre was actually a village outside Paris with very inexpensive housing. That is why here rushed, led by Renoir, Pissarro and Sisley, the first impressionists who wanted to paint their canvases on plein air, that is, in the fresh air, in the meadows and fields of Montmartre, and at the same time nearby rent a penny housing. However, for historians of Paris, Montmartre is associated with the legend of Saint Denis, which gave the hill its current name, and with Montmartre vineyards, and with the Paris Commune, and even with Russian Cossacks. And for this short walk you will remember the singer Dalida (the one who sang with Alain Delon “Paroles, paroles, paroles...”), the inseparable Jean Marais and Jean Cocteau, Amelie Poulin (don’t forget to review the film “Amelie” before the trip!), Picasso, Van Gogh, Toulouse-Lautrec... This is also one of the rare excursions in Paris, which can be planned including in the evening: after all, Montmartre with its endless stairs, ornate streets, lanterns and stunning panorama of Paris from the moonlight only wins!
