The magnificent castle, presented by Louis, became a favorite of the royal couple and was decorated with great taste. The beautiful park was laid out by Lenotre, the royal architect of the gardens. The decoration of the park is a grand aqueduct designed to deliver water to the gardens of Versailles. It was never used, but left to decorate the landscape.
In this castle, overlooking the aqueduct, the film “Professional” was filmed with Jean Paul Belmondo in the title role.
The tour can be combined with a visit to the city of Chartres Chatres, in the famous Gothic cathedral of which the Plateau of the Blessed Virgin is kept.
