“Paris – Crossing the Centuries” – a 5-hour walk in Paris
Description:
The best way to get to know the city is to walk around as much of it as possible!
Paris, in fact, is not so big, only about 100 square kilometers, all its attractions are a short distance from each other. In order to feel the whole atmosphere of this great city, to breathe in its air, imbued with centuries of history, we will walk through Paris on foot along the chronological route - from the origins of its creation and cut through the centuries of its transformation with you!
We will begin our walk near the central city hall of Paris, on the once famous Greve Square, famous in the novels of Alexander Dumas. Then we will move to the heart of Paris on the island of Cité, where the famous Notre Dame Cathedral is located, we will not be able to go inside now, since the cathedral and the area around it are closed until 2024 after the tragic fire on April 15, 2019. I will tell you the whole centuries-old history of the cathedral, we will see its lace decor from afar and imagine its new transformation. Then we will walk a little through the medieval streets of the Latin quarter, go to the old Gothic church and see its preserved cemetery.
Further, our walk will take place along the embankments of the Seine, where it is especially pleasant to walk in good warm weather, with which we will of course be lucky. We will see the chapel of Saint Chapelle, the royal castle of the Conciergerie, which later became a terrible prison, the Tower of St. James, Chatelet Square, the oldest New Bridge of Paris, the Bridge of Arts, the French Academy, we will be impressed by the majestic architecture of the Louvre Palace, we will go to the famous Palais Royal Garden, hidden from the eyes of curious tourists.
After that, we will cross Paris through its famous passages, and go to its “parade” part, built in the second half of the 19th century – the famous Ottoman Paris! We will admire the Grand Opera, visit the most luxurious place in Paris - Place Vendôme, walk a little through the famous Tuelry Garden, which will take us to the largest square in Paris - Place de la Concorde.
We will admire the luxurious architecture of the Grand and Small Palace, visit the House of Invalides, see the most magnificent bridge in Paris - the Alexander III Bridge. We will visit the most beautiful avenue in the world - the Champs Elysees, crowned by the famous Arc de Triomphe.
Of course, this is not all that comes our way!
