Paris

Montmartre Hill – Mount of Martyrs and Bohemians

Description:

Montmartre has a long history - already in the 2nd century there was a Roman temple of Mars, and in the 3rd century here, according to legend, the first bishop of Paris, St. Dionysius, was beheaded.

There is a saying, “There is more Montmartre in Paris than in Montmartre in Paris,” which is absolutely true. A small village, annexed to Paris in 1860 and now does not resemble a modern city. A separate atmosphere enchants here - a combination of the tranquil village life of its indigenous inhabitants and the bohemian party of the late 19th century.

During our walk we will see all the iconic places of Montmartre – the famous cabaret Moulin Rouge and the Agile Rabbit, the hostel of the former bohemian Montmartre – Bato Lavoir, old mills and vineyards, the mansion where the singer Dalida lived, a man walking through the wall, the famous Pink House of Utrillo and much more...

We will climb with you to the highest point of the hill - Tertres Square, the habitat of artists and cozy cafes, in one of which, according to legend, the French word "bistro" was immortalized by Russian soldiers, as well as visit the old Church of St. Peter and the famous Basilica of Sacre Coeur.

I will tell you many stories, legends and anecdotes related to Montmartre, and we will conclude our visit on the observation deck on the top of the hill with a magnificent panoramic view of Paris.
