Tokyo Palace
13 av du President Wilson, Paris, France
Description:
On the right side of the Seine River is an institution dedicated to modern culture - the Palace of Tokyo. The east wing of the building is occupied by the Museum of Contemporary Art of Paris, and the west wing belongs to the Palace of Tokyo. The location of the building allows you to see it from the Eiffel Tower.
The museum has two halls that are particularly exciting. The first is the Matisse Hall, where the author’s works are located. The painting “Paris Dance” causes the feeling that the heroes of the canvas are alive. The second hall is entirely dedicated to Raoul Dufy’s monumental fresco “The Light of Electricity”. This work includes 250 colored panels that introduce the history of electricity. The fresco was made to decorate the pavilion, which was previously located in this building.
The collections of the museum are placed on the principle of chronology. Of particular pride are the paintings of French artists: Delaunay, Modigliani, Picasso and Chagall. That is why the themes of Paris dominate the works of the authors.
The museum is actively replenished with new paintings by modern authors, sculptors and objects of painting.
Since 2002, Palais de Tokyo has hosted avant-garde exhibitions and other events.
