Fountain of the Medici

Luxembourg Garden, Paris, France

Description:

The Medici Fountain dates back to the seventeenth century. This is a beautiful embodiment of exquisite Baroque architecture in the middle of picturesque nature. The Medici Fountain was created on the east side of the Luxembourg Palace. The decree on the creation of the fountain was signed by Maria Medici.

According to many assumptions, the Medici Fountain was built by Salomon de Bross, and the mythical sculptures were made by Auguste Otten. On one side of the fountain there is an episode when the Centaur, created of bronze, is ready to attack Galatea, made of marble, who did not suspect anything and is in the arms of Atsis. On the other hand, you can see the impressive bas-relief, which depicts Leda with a beautiful swan.

Visit Luxembourg Gardens to enjoy a magnificent experience of nature and sculpture. Here you will take the most vivid photos against the background of unique landscapes.
