Cathedral of the Assumption of the Mother of God
263 Rue Saint-Honor, Paris, France
Description:
The Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady (French for Cathedrale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption) is located in the historic center of Paris on Victory Square. Near the cathedral is a statue of Pope Urban II, who began the First Crusade here in 1095.
The Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady is a beautiful Gothic cathedral, before which there were three Christian churches here. An important feature of the cathedral is a unique building material of volcanic origin. This is the largest temple of this special stone.
Visiting the Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady, you can see the interior of the XIX century and listen to the organ. There is also a beautiful collection of paintings of the XII-XV centuries and fragments of Gothic frescoes.
