Luxembourg Garden
6e Arrondissement, 75006 Paris, France
Description:
The famous Luxembourg Garden, which today covers 22.5 hectares, was laid out in 1611. The design of the park took place in parallel with the construction of the Luxembourg Palace, built in accordance with Florentine architectural traditions. The customer was Marie de Medici, widow of King Henry IV. A few years later, the area of the garden increased significantly, and over the following years it changed more than once. Statues of the Luxembourg Garden, which it is famous all over the world, were installed in the XIX century, when the reconstruction of the palace, which retained its "Italian" appearance, was carried out.
Luxembourg Garden attracts tourists and citizens with its calm atmosphere. Near a small pond surrounded by beautiful sculptures is the National School of Mountains of Paris, as well as the theater "Odeon". I must say that the number of sculptures in the garden has about 20 statues of former French queens and women saints (among them Joan of Navarre, Anne of Austria, Louise of Savoy and others).
The Luxembourg Garden has a large playground, a miniature theater and an old carousel. You can ride a pony or listen to free musical performances. You can enjoy music while sitting with a glass of wine in a cozy restaurant.
