Butte-Shomon Park

Rue Botzaris, Paris, France

Description:

Public Park Butte-Chaumont is located in the northeast in the nineteenth arrondissement from Paris. It covers 25 hectares and is the third largest park in Paris after the Vincennes and Boulogne Forests. Butte Chaumont was opened in 1867 at the end of the regime of Emperor Napoleon III. The park was designed by Jean Charles Alfan, who created all the famous royal parks.

The shape of the park resembles a croissant, while the entire territory is located on several peaks. The most famous of the four is a lake and an island, on which there is almost 50 meters of rock. At the top of the rock is a stone rotunda, which is called the Temple of Seville, the original of which is located in Tivoli near Rome. You can climb to the temple by two bridges - the Suicide Bridge and the Hanging Bridge. Below, several artificial streams flow into the lake, forming a cascade and a grotto with stalactites.

On the territory of Butte Chaumont Park there are three restaurant chalets, two puppet theaters, a music kiosk and a playground for children.
