Montsouris Park

4 rue du Parc de Montsouris

Description:

Parc Montsouris is a state park located on the left bank of the Seine. Its area is as much as 15 hectares.

Its design is somewhat reminiscent of English gardens - a popular holiday destination of the nineteenth century, but has its own characteristics.

This park appeared in Paris by the decision of Baron Osman and Napoleon III. From the very beginning, the purpose of its creation was to green the city more. The park borders General Leclerc Avenue and a residential neighborhood.

Due to its location, the park is always crowded.

The park has reservoirs. They occupy almost the entrance to the Paris catacombs. On small lakes live herons, geese, wild ducks, turtles. The shores of the lakes are filled with stones that fit perfectly into the overall design. The park has more than one hundred and fifty species of various shrubs and trees. Many of them come from Florida.

The park lawn is used for golf. Especially often you can find local students playing here.

The park did not get its name immediately. Initially, its name sounded like "mice park" - because of the large number of rodents living on its territory.
