Bir Akei Bridge n

Pont de Bir-Hakeim, 75016 Paris, France

Description:

The two-level Bir-Acheim Bridge is one of the most unusual bridges in Paris. This is a steel structure, the lower tier of which is reserved for the movement of road transport, and a metro line is displayed on the top. There's a walkway for pedestrians.

The bridge was erected in the first half of the twentieth century on the site of an older structure, built in 1878. The author of the project was the famous engineer Alexander Gustav Eiffel. The bridge was named after a small Libyan settlement where the French army fought German troops.

In addition to its original design, the Bir-Acheim Bridge is a very picturesque attraction and is one of the most famous bridges in Paris. In its eastern part stands the sculpture “Resurgent France”, created by the sculptor Vererkinch. It is here that the hero of Marlon Brando appears in the very first scene of the film “Last Tango in Paris”. And it is from this bridge that the Swan or Swan Island begins with its magnificent views.
