The Changal Bridge

Paris, France

Description:

The length of the bridge is about 100 meters, width is 30 meters, including two six-meter sidewalks.

It appeared in the capital of France in the ninth century. It was made of wood. In the XVII century the bridge was made of stone. At the same time, it was decorated with statues of kings, because secular people often rode on the bridge. They are still kept in the Louvre.

Why such a strange name? Because the French contrived and built on the bridge not a lot, not a little, but more than 200 houses and shops. All points were dominated by local money changers and jewelers. Hence the name.

The Changal Bridge is so famous that it is often written about in fiction. He is dedicated to an episode in the film "Perfume" based on the book by Suskend. The main character worked in a store on the bridge. In the picture there is a beautiful moment when the house is destroyed and its debris falls into the Seine. In Notre Dame Cathedral and Hugo's Les Miserables, the bridge has entire chapters.
