Lausen mansion

17 Quai d'Anjou, 75004 Paris, France

Description:

The mansion "Hotel De Lauzun" or the mansion of Lausin, located on the Anjou promenade, in the eastern part of the island of Saint-Louis, is one of the most interesting monuments of the history of Paris. It is one of the few ancient buildings that have preserved to this day a rich carving, painting and lush mirrored and gilded interiors. These buildings remember the times of King Louis XIV. The construction of the mansion was completed in the 50s of the XVII century, and its name was fixed after it was acquired by the Duke of Lausin.

In the XVIII century, the island of Saint-Louis became a real refuge for representatives of the aristocracy, and the mansion "Hotel De Lauzun" remained in the ownership of the nobility until the beginning of the French Revolution. After the revolution, the building was transferred to housing for artisans, which was located here until the 1840s. In the middle of the XIX century, the building of the mansion passed into the ownership of the famous Parisian collector Baron Jerome Pichon, who partially restored the former atmosphere, but the second floor was still occupied by apartments. The house was rented by celebrities such as Charles Baudelaire and Theophile Gaultier.
