Paris mosque
5 Place du Puits de l'Ermite, 75005 Paris, France
Description:
The Paris Cathedral Mosque, which occupies one hectare, was built in 1922-1926 near the Botanical Garden, and is an example of late modern architecture. It is one of the largest mosques in France. Three North African architects worked on the project: Fourne, Matouf and Ebes. The minaret of the mosque with a height of 33 meters rises above the tiled roofs of the residential quarter. The mosque was built to commemorate the 100,000 Muslims who died in World War II.
The spacious prayer hall is designed in North African style. Each dome of the mosque has a different decoration from the others. There is also a library, a training center, a souvenir shop and a tea cafe.
