Statue of Liberty on Swan Island

Statue de la Libert - R plique, Pont de Grenelle, 75015 Paris, France

Description:

The Statue of Liberty is located on Swan Island and is a smaller copy of the statue located in America. The monument faces the United States with a plaque in hand that bears two dates: American Independence Day and Bastille Day.

The story goes that in 1876, the French presented the Americans with a large gift for the centenary of the US Revolution – the Statue of Liberty. The figure became a symbol of freedom and democracy. Thirteen years later, citizens of the United States decided to thank the French and built a small statue of the Lady of Liberty on Swan Island.

The height of the copy is 11.5 meters (the height of the statue in the United States is 46 meters). The “sister” of the American monument is located on a small artificial island, whose length is 890 meters, and width is 20.
