Paris

Bonoparta Street

Rue Bonaparte 75006 Paris, France

Description:

Despite the fact that Paris is almost permeated through the Napoleonic era, its name is practically not mentioned on the city map. Only a small street stretching to the Seine from the Luxembourg Gardens past the church of Saint-Germain de Pres bears the name of Bonaparte. Its length is about a kilometer. This is a cozy street, on both sides of which there are numerous shops and cafes. Here will feel good not only lovers of history, but also those who prefer to spend time shopping.

One might wonder why there is no square in Paris that bears the name of an outstanding historical figure. You won’t find Napoleon’s Square, there’s only Bonaparte Street. The French prefer General Bonaparte over Emperor Napoleon. In the minds of most French people, Bonaparte is concerned with change, revolution, freedom, and Napoleon is exclusively with imperial ambitions. Therefore, the memory of the most famous Frenchman in the world was immortalized by naming the street in his honor.
