Cour du Commers-Saint-Andre
Boulevard Saint Germain and Rue Saint Andre des Arts, Paris, France
Description:
Every building on the Cour du Commers-Saint-Andre has its own history. Once upon a time in House No. 8, the great revolutionary published his first issue of the newspaper Friend of the People. And in the building next door, Dr. Guillotin designed a special machine for painlessly cutting off the head. Here he conducted his first experiments.
Danton lived on the Cour du Commers-Saint-Andre, but the building has not survived. In its place now stands a statue of a revolutionary.
Still on the street there is a restaurant "Prokop", in which Robespierre, Diderot, Balzac, Moliere and many other famous political figures and artists sat at tables.
In addition to historical buildings, there are modern shops with souvenirs and small cafeterias on the street, where French sweets are made. The facades of the institutions are made entirely of glass. Passing by, you can see how confectioners pour chocolate into the molds.
