Fontainebleau Castle

43 Boulevard Magenta, Fontainebleau, Paris, France

Description:

The history of Fontainebleau Castle begins in the twelfth century. It was then that the young King Louis VII ordered the construction of a small hunting lodge, which over the years of his reign turned into a full-fledged royal residence. This was the beginning of the construction marathon, in which 34 French rulers participated.

Each time the French crown changed its owner, the castle of Fontainebleau overgrown with new rooms, apartments, galleries. All kings, from Louis VII to Napoleon III, sought to bring something of their own to this unique architectural structure.

Today, Fontainebleau Castle is a museum that hides countless priceless treasures. Particularly noteworthy are the luxurious interiors, in whose design Napoleon himself contributed.
