Monjin Castle
Chateau de Montjean, 94150 Rungis, France
Description:
France is strewn with castles like the southern sky with stars. Their stone walls embody the history of the country, from bloody wars and crusades, to lush balls and palace intrigues. And just as each region of the country is different from each other, the castles of the regions are not similar to each other. The Loire Valley Castles are the cradle of the French Renaissance elite. Most of these castles rather resemble palaces with their exquisite architecture, garden and park ensembles.
Montjean Castle is a monument in the town of the same name in Mayen, in the Loire Valley. This is one of the favorite places of tourists in this area. It is located 2.5 kilometers from the city. Beautiful and location of the castle, it is located near the pond, attracts many visitors here.
The castle was built in the eleventh century and, like most castles, it served a protective function. Until the fourteenth century, the castle was a very powerful structure. The laying of the castle was severely destroyed by fire in the fourteenth century, although the chapel outside the wall, with several altars dedicated to St. Anne, survived until the sixteenth century. In 1604, only ruins remained from the castle, but they attract tourists here, as they are a valuable piece of history.
