Dapper Museum

35 Rue Paul Val ry 75116 Paris, France

About the company:

The Dapper Museum has a rich collection of theatrical, ritual and funerary masks of various African tribes. It hosts large-scale exhibitions and thematic events dedicated to the history of Africa and the Caribbean. The museum is a major ethnographic center of international importance.

The Museum of Art and Culture of Africa, the Caribbean and their Diasporas was opened in 1986 under the name of Olfert Dapper – an outstanding Dutch geographer, writer and physician of the XVII century. He painstakingly explored the traditions and cultures of exotic countries, but he never visited the black continent.

Only this museum presents the largest number of books, postcards, drawings about Africa and the Caribbean - more than 5 thousand. The museum regularly organizes concerts and performances for children and adults. To get to the museum, take the M2 subway to Victor Hugo Station.
