Museum of Decorative Arts

107 rue de Rivoli, Paris, France

About the company:

The Museum of Decorative Arts and Design is located in the Palais du Louvre at 107 Rue de Rivoli in the First District of Paris. The collection became available to the public in 1905 thanks to the initiative of the members of the Union of Decorative Arts. The main exposition is formed by a collection of items made in Art Nouveau and Art Deco style. It is mainly French furniture, carpets, a large collection of dishes, including works on glass by René Lalique and Émile Galle. In addition, there are some works of contemporary authors.

Interesting are the recreated interiors. Among them is part of the Jane Lanvin House, decorated by Albert Armand Rato in the early 1920s. There is also a dining room, decorated by graphic artist Eugène Grasse in 1880 and the Golden Cabinet of Avignone with original author's furniture from 1752. The museum has the bedroom of the famous French courtesan Lucy Emily Delyabin, who inspired Emile Zola on the image of the main character of the novel “Nana”.
