Museum of History of France

60 rue des Francs-Bourgeois, Paris

About the company:

Why are the archives in two mansions? Because there are so many exhibits in the history of the country that they do not fit in one building. The main collection of the museum is located in the Subiz mansion, which was built in 1371. The building is made in rococo style. In 1701, the mansion underwent a complete reconstruction. From the old entourage, only the gate remained. The architect Delamer decorated the main halls with gilding and crystal, and the ceiling with frescoes of famous French artists.

A little later, another building was added to Subiz - the Roan mansion. In 1808, both buildings were bought by the French government, where the National Publishing House and the Imperial Archives were established. Under Napoleon III they were merged into the Museum of France. Securities, historical relics, court documents are stored there. The will of Napoleon and the diary of Louis XVI are preserved.

Between the mansions in 2011 opened National gardens.

The Museum of History of France is constantly reconstructed and replenished with new exhibits.
