Cognac Jae Museum
About the company:
On the territory of the Donon hotel there is a museum called the Cognac-Zhe Museum. The museum is a collection of unique collections of decorative products, works of fine art, originally from the XVII - XVIII centuries.
The museum’s collection was created over 25 years (1900-1925) by Ernest Cognac and his wife Maria-Louise Jay. They organized a modern store La Samaritaine, which sold various antique items.
Collections reach 1,200 units. They occupy four floors of the hotel. These are ceramic products from Europe and China, valuable jewelry, exclusive snuffboxes, paintings by artists Francois Boucher, Jean-Baptiste Greze, Jeanne-Antoine Watteau. Of great value are paintings by Rembrandt, written in the 17th century. There are sculptural compositions by Jeanne-Antoine Houdon, and Jacques-François-Joseph Sali, as well as unique antique furniture.
In the museum you can see all the luxury and beauty that reigned in the house of Louis XVI. According to the paintings of artists, you can study the former fashion, since the artists paid enough attention to the toilets of the models.
