Museum of the Paris Mint

11, quai de Conti Cedex 06, Paris, France

About the company:

The Paris Mint (French: Monnaie de Paris) or, as it should be called more officially, the Direction des Monnaies et M dailles, was founded by Louis XVI in the second half of the XVIII century. Announced competition for the best project of the mansion was won by architect Jacques-Denis Antoine.

The Museum of the Paris Mint owes its appearance to King Charles X. It was by his order that the Museum of Money (French mus e mon taire) was established in 1833, which for a long time existed under operating workshops engaged in minting and engraving coins and tokens. In 1988, its successor was the Museum of the Paris Mint.

Nowadays, the main exhibits of the museum are, of course, coins, as well as all objects that accompany their appearance or existence. The total number of exhibits in the Museum of the Paris Mint will make the feverish shine of the eyes of any of the numismatics - more than thirty thousand coins of different eras and peoples, as well as seventy-five thousand medals, tokens and insignia. However, such a collection will be interesting to the ordinary visitor of the museum.
