Museum of Rarity and Magic
11 Rue Saint-Paul 75004 Paris, France
About the company:
Since the XVII century, Paris, like a magnet, attracted numerous wandering magicians and magicians. Not far from the place where they performed, there was an ancient mansion belonging to the famous Marquis de Sade, who was famous for his philosophical reflections on absolute freedom, without any restrictions. In this house was placed the exposition of the Museum of Rarity and Magic.
The museum was founded in 1993 on the basis of the private collection of the famous illusionist Georges Proust. Fascinated by the art of magic, since 1960 he collected unique art objects in antique shops, and over the years his collection has grown to incredible sizes. The amazing collection is now available to a wide range of viewers, and some lucky ones have the honor to listen to a fascinating story about the exhibits from the lips of the illusionist himself!
In the Museum of Rarities and Magic, the laws of ordinary life do not work - a mysterious world of illusion reigns here. At the entrance, visitors are greeted by a drawing sitting on a feather handle, then along the stone steps you enter an ancient basement, where you will find a small performance and a dozen original illusions, over the solution of which you will have to scratch your head. Then the old magician tells the story of various magical objects: here is the magical chair of Bouitier de Colt, sitting on which a person instantly disappears, here is a table for sawing a person and magic mirrors, and here are magic wands, fortune-telling balls, boxes with secrets and much, much more.
