Museum of Wine Paris
Musee du Vin Paris 5, square Charles Dickens, 75016 PARIS
About the company:
The Paris Wine Museum is located near the Eiffel Tower, in the heart of the city, where the vineyards surrounding Paris grew in the Middle Ages. This museum is not like all the others. It is not surprising that the idea of opening such a museum was born in France, because this country is the largest supplier and producer of the noble drink. The Wine Museum reveals the secrets of winemaking and clearly shows the production process.
Here was a Franciscan monastery, whose monks produced fine wine, appreciated by Louis XIII, who often came here during hunting in the Bois de Boulogne. Later, the monastery was looted and partially destroyed, and until the XX century there was desolation. In 1984, the cellar was discovered by the owner of one of the Paris restaurants and equipped here the Museum of Wine.
A tour of the museum includes a tour of the wine cellars a kilometer long, and also introduces visitors to the history of wine making, from ancient times to the present day. Exhibits of the museum include tools of winemakers, various wine vessels - barrels and amphorae, ceramic vessels and bottles, glasses and cups, various labels. There are whole scenes with wax figures that capture famous events from the history of winemaking in France and around the world. And in the halls of the restaurant there are tastings of various wines, seminars and lectures, thematic evenings and events.
