Malmaison - the castle of youth of Josephine and Napoleon
Description:
Marie Rosa Joseph Tachet-de La Pagery was born in Martinique on 23 June 1763.
Her family owned a sugar plantation and had about 100 slaves, so she has long been criticized in modern times as a slave owner. But now it is said that she did not treat them as slaves, but was always among them, they loved her and affectionately called her Yeyette. There is a legend that in Martinique one of the fortune tellers predicted to her: "Honey, you will be more than the Queen..."
Fate forced Rosa to come to France on the eve of the Revolution from Martinique, and it was then for a Creole girl, how to get Cinderella to the Palace of Princes!
But the French Bourgeois Revolution changes everything and Marie Rosa is forced to become “Josephine” when she meets a young Corsican, promising and full of ambition, he probably has a future behind him, and especially since he is ready to support her financially, and for this she is ready to even change her name.
Napoleon did not carry her name, Rosa, as everyone called her. One day he said to her, “I am not all and I will call you Josephine.” They married and Napoleon bought Josephine Malmaison.
The prediction came true... Josephine became Empress!!!
Malmaison Castle still preserves the spirit of happiness and youth of Josephine and Napoleon.
We will walk through its halls and I assure you, even if you have never thought about the fate of this couple, she will become pretty.
