Gardens of Chenonceau Castle

37150 Chenonceau, France

Description:

The gardens of Chenonceau Castle are located near the castle of the village of Chenonceau. There is also a medieval farm and flower garden with more than 130 thousand species of plants.

The colorful gardens with fountains and arches are a reflection of the reign of two bright mistresses of the castle, who ruled at different times. For example, during the reign of Diana de Poitiers in the garden appeared vegetables and fruits, exotic at that time, artichokes and melons.

During the time of Catherine Medici, triumphal arches were built in the garden, many statues were installed, and all purely in the Italian style.

Notably, although Chenonceau Castle is privately owned, it is accessible to the public.
